Number 22 Group, vRAF

Number 22 Group, also known as Number 22 (Training) Group, is responsible for all of the vRAF's Training Squadrons and the progression of new recruits to their front line squadrons.

Headquartered at RAF High Wycombe and run by a virtual Air Chief Marshal - holding the post of Deputy Commander-In-Chief (Personnel), 22 Group provides a training and support for all new recruits and ensures that they are suitably qualified when being posted to their front line Squadron.

The Group consists of:

- Number 45(R) Squadron (RAF Cranwell; Grob Tutor, Beech King Air 350)
- Number 208 Squadron (RAF Valley; BAe Hawk)

Number 22 Group does not currently provide any Defence Helicopter Flying School Training due to the low numbers of helicopter pilots signing up. Instead, helicopter recruits must complete Elementary Flying Training on the Grob Tutor with 45 (R) Squadron, from where they will then proceed directly to Support Helicopter Force.
